Kirk Monroe — Principal

Kirk works with an international consortium of colleagues to help solve some of the most vexing communications challenges facing businesses and institutions today. Areas of expertise include public affairs, media relations, crisis communications, digital strategy, marketing and advertising.

Over the course of his career, Kirk has managed communications on a wide range of complex and highly-sensitive issues, including activist campaigns, major litigation, product recalls, operating incidents, natural disasters, mergers and acquisitions and a wide range of policy matters.

Kirk cut his teeth in the public sector early in his career, serving on the Washington, D.C. staff of U.S. Senator David Durenberger (R-MN.), as well as advising and serving as media liaison to two Presidential Inaugural Committees and consulting with the White House Office of Press Advance.

He held various positions at Rasky Partners, Prism Public Affairs, Ketchum Public Relations and Ruder Finn, and enjoyed a 12-year tenure as founder and principal of an award-winning public relations firm before landing at the Business Roundtable as Director of Communications. There, Kirk spearheaded the group’s external communications operation which included advertising, media relations and digital communications while providing communications counsel to the organization’s Fortune 200 CEO members.

He has since garnered extensive experience designing and executing communications campaigns for a broad spectrum of clients including U.S. and international corporations, trade associations, foreign governments, non-profit organizations, financial institutions, government agencies and celebrities.

Kirk has held various leadership positions in the Public Relations Society of America, International Association of Business Communicators, the Publicity Club of New York, the University Club of Washington and the National Press Club. He has taught courses in public relations and marketing at George Washington University and The American University.

Kirk received his B.A. from Elon University.
